Objective : To understand the components descriptions and details
Content/ Procedure :
This week, I have to study the components that I have bought last week. After doing the researched about all the components, this is all informations that I got.

The high-resolution TCS 3200
light-/frequency converter of TAOS® generates a square-wave output
signal and can communicate directly with a microcontroller. The high

Adaptor
An adapter or adaptor is a
person that adapts or a device
that converts attributes of one device or system to those of an otherwise
incompatible device or system.
Some adapters may only affect physical attributes:
- An electrical adapter may enable connection of a socket used in one region to a plug used in another by offering connections for the disparate contact arrangements, while not changing the voltage. For more, see: Domestic AC power plugs and sockets.
- A garden hose adapter can convert between threads and quick-release, "snap"-type connections.
- One kind of serial port adapter enables connections between 25-contact and nine-contact connectors, but does not affect electrical power- and signalling-related attributes.
Other adapters may affect electrical attributes:
- A transformer adapts household electric current from high voltage (100 to 240 volts AC) to low voltage suitable for consumer electronics. These adapters will warm through converting alternating current to direct current , but are safe to the environment and can withstand months of continuous prolonged activity.
As Chinese plug pins are slightly thinner than Australian plugs, plug
adaptors sold on ebay and elsewhere claiming conversion from UK or other
worldwide plugs to a common Australian/Chinese standard can cause serious
problems as the Chinese pins fit loosely in Australian sockets causing sparking
and other problems. The thicker pins on Australian plugs cannot be inserted
easily into Chinese standard sockets, while the thinner pins on Chinese
adapters will fit loosely in Australian sockets.

Short for liquid crystal display, a type of display used in digital watches and many portable computers. LCD displays utilize two sheets of polarizing material with a liquid crystal solution between them. An electric current passed through the liquid causes the crystals to align so that light cannot pass through them. Each crystal, therefore, is like a shutter, either allowing light to pass through or blocking the light.
A liquid crystal display (LCD) is a flat panel display, electronic visual display, video display that uses the light modulating properties of liquid crystals. Liquid crystals do not emit light directly.
LCDs have displaced cathode ray tube (CRT) displays in most applications. They are available in a wider range of screen sizes than CRT and plasma displays, and since they do not use phosphors, they cannot suffer image burn-in.

PIC Microcontroller Overview
Microcontroller is a computer on chip. Microprocessor requires external memory to operate. Microcontroller can work on its own with chip memory. The PIC16877A are the most range of microcontroller in use today. Microcontrollers are designed for small application. Thus, in contrast to the microprocessors used in personal computers and other high-performance applications, simplicity is emphasized. Microcontrollers contain all the components required for a processor system in one chip such a CPU, memory and I/O.

The microcontroller is simply a computer on a chip. It is one of the most important developments in electronics since the invention of the microprocessor itself. It is essential for the operation of devices such as mobile phones, DVD players, video cameras, and most self-contained electronic systems. The small LCD screen is a good clue to the presence of an MCU (Microcontroller Unit), it needs a programmed device to control it. Working sometimes with other chips, but often on its own, the MCU provides the key element in the vast range of small, programmed devices which are now common place.
Result and analysis :
Students should able in explaining and knowing with details about components that will be used in project.
Conclusions :
Next week, we continued with another components overview and informations. With this informations, can gain our knowledge in exploring all the electronics components advantages us in present and future. Wassalam.
